GIJN and Netzwerk Recherche Launch GIJN Deutsch

The Global Investigative Journalism Network and Netzwerk Recherche, Germany’s association of investigative journalists, are pleased to announce the launch of GIJN Deutsch, an editorial office and resource center for German-speaking journalists. The new initiative builds on the August 2021 launch of @gijnDeutsch, our German-language Twitter feed.

Netzwerk Recherche was founded in 2001. Each year, the organization arranges one of Europe’s largest conferences on investigative journalism. The NR team also has been a major partner of GIJN, co-hosting the 2019 Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Hamburg, Germany. The GIJN Deutsch website is hosted on the domain of Netzwerk Recherche.

GIJN serves as the international hub for the world’s investigative reporters. Through training, publishing, capacity building, and networking, GIJN works to strengthen investigative journalism around the world. Since its founding in 2003, GIJN has grown to include 227 member groups in 88 countries.

GIJN Deutsch – A Strong Partner for Investigative Journalism in German-Speaking Countries

On GIJN Deutsch, journalists will find references to state-of-the-art international research, tools, techniques, grants, and fellowships. For the everyday challenges in investigative journalism, we publish manuals, guidelines, and tipsheets in German, and provide a Help Desk backed by GIJN’s global resources. With the establishment of a German-language editorial office, GIJN now has 13 regional representatives.  

GIJN Deutsch’s resources are open to all journalists, including GIJN’s nine member organizations based in the German-speaking countries of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. With investigative reporting facing increasing challenges by the day, journalists now have a strong regional partner in GIJN Deutsch.
