Open Government Data Camp 2011 in Warsaw, Poland, begins tomorrow
Open Government Data Camp is the world’s biggest open data event. It brings together civil servants, developers, NGOs and others for two days of talks, workshops and project sprints.
(The following comes from http://ogdcamp.org/about/)
The camp has 4 key objectives:
- Build consensus – around core open data principles and values
- Build community – expand and strengthen international open data community
- Share ideas – on the future of open data and how we can do things better
- Make things – from starting projects, to making plans, to writing code
We would like Open Government Data Camp to help to build irreversible global momentum for open data, and to encourage more organisations and institutions to adopt open data principles as part of their organisational DNA.
Open Government Data Camp 2011 will take place in Warsaw in October. It is being coordinated by the Open Knowledge Foundation in partnership with Centrum Cyfrowe in Warsaw. There are currently over 30 partner organisations, and a Steering Committee with nearly 60 representatives from public bodies, NGOs, and civic society.
This year we are expecting up to 400 participants from over 40 countries. In addition to the main camp on 20-21st October, we are supporting a week of satellite events run by leading open data projects and NGOs.
If you’d like to know more about open government data, you can see our short #opendata film, which was shot at last year’s camp.
