Spotlight’s Robinson To Keynote Asia IJ Conference
GIJN and its partners are excited to officially open registration for Uncovering Asia — the second Asian Investigative Journalism Conference, to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Sept. 23-25. Our keynote speaker will be Walter “Robby” Robinson, who led the Boston Globe Spotlight team’s Pulitzer Prize winning investigation into the Catholic Church sex abuse scandal. Robinson was played by actor Michael Keaton in the movie Spotlight.
Along with Robinson, Uncovering Asia will feature world-class speakers at 50 sessions, including panels on digging out hidden facts online, climate change, disaster reporting, how to fund your project; data journalism workshops by the best in the business; and much more. You can follow the conference at #IJAsia16.
Come join Asia’s best journalists for three days of intensive training and networking. It will up your game and change how you report on the world.
We have a grand venue for the big event: the impressive Hotel Yak & Yeti in central Kathmandu, and we’ve negotiated inexpensive rates for attendees. We’ve also kept the registration fee low and are providing more than 30 fellowships so that Asian journalists can attend.
Professional journalists in Asian developing and transitioning countries can apply for a fellowship to attend the conference. Fellowships are available both for established and young promising journalists. Competition is keen so you need to convince us that you’ll make great use of the training IJAsia16 offers. Uncovering Asia is co-hosted by the Global Investigative Journalism Network, the Nepal Centre for Investigative Journalism, and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
