Ruhina Akter, writing under the pen name Ruhina Ferdous, is a journalist and writer with more than 12 years of experience in Bangladesh’s newsrooms. Her work spans reporting, editing, writing, conceptualizing stories, and content development.

Ruhina began her career contributing for Prothom Alo, Bangladesh’s largest newspaper, before joining Bonik Barta — Bangladesh’s longest-running Bengali business newspaper — in 2012. Over the years, she has gathered diverse experience across different desks, including features, editorial, and the business daily’s news desk. She has written columns, conducted interviews, and reported on gender and environmental issues. She also led a team to produce a weekly arts page, which is still considered one of the newspaper’s distinctive offerings.

Ruhina is committed to improving Bangladeshi media’s coverage of gender and women’s issues. Her professional achievements include the Konrad Adenauer Fellowship for Media and Communications as well as OKP fellowships in Media Campaigns for Social Change and Digital Media Creations.

An avid art enthusiast, Ruhina is passionate about storytelling and enjoys writing poetry. She also dabbles in art. Her poems and short stories have been published in literary magazines and other platforms.
