Joanna has been working in the field of journalism in Malta for the past decade, both as a journalist and a photographer. Her more recent investigative work has been published with OCCRP, Amphora Media and Politico Europe, among others, and has been recognized by awards including the Voices Awards 2025. She works as GIJN’s Visuals and Newsletter Editor .
Joanna graduated from the MA Photography and Society program at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, and an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from London College of Communication. She also completed a BA (Hons.) in Communications and English from the University of Malta. She is a member of the international photography platform Women Photograph.
