Joanna DeMarco has been working in journalism in Malta for the past decade, both as a local reporter and a freelance photojournalist, and has published her work in publications including Politico Europe, The Washington Post, National Geographic, and Der Spiegel.
Most recently, she worked with The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation, conducting research on SLAPP lawsuits for the Coalition Against SLAPPs in Europe. She is also a visiting lecturer teaching photojournalism at the University of Malta.
Joanna graduated with an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from London College of Communication. She also completed a BA (Hons.) in Communications and English from the University of Malta. She is a member of the international photography platform Women Photograph.
