The ICIJ Offshore Leaks project and investigations into tax havens have hit the British Virgin Islands hard. Officials there are pushing a draconian new law with severe penalties for anyone leaking information or publishing leaked information about BVI offshore companies. The International Press Institute (IPI) is pressing for changes to this bill, which it says could hamper the ability of journalists to do their job.
