Alan Kawamara is a user interface designer and software engineer from East Africa. Over the past 10 years, Alan has gained experience building and managing information systems and digital platforms for corporate organizations, NGOs and social enterprises within Africa.

More recently, Alan has been involved in the development of technology solutions for media organizations, enabling them to successfully execute their digital transformation strategies.

He is especially passionate about media and new technology and how these can be used creatively for development and effective storytelling, especially when harnessed using the Internet and current multimedia tools. Alan is also the founder of Visible Polls, a civic technology platform that creates digital snapshots of African elections using publicly published and verified data.
