Story of the Day: NSA’s Secret Hacking Unit

As part of its continuing coverage of the Snowden leaks, Germany's Der Spiegel takes readers inside the NSA's secret "plumbers" unit. This fast-growing, elite hacking group is responsible for tapping into hard targets ranging from terrorists and cyber spooks to more traditional spies. Based at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, the unit is called TAO -- the Office of Tailored Access Operations.
