“Secret Diaries” receives Global Shining Light Award

An investigative series out of Brazil won the Global Shining Light Award during the 7th Global Conference on Investigative Journalism in Kiev, Ukraine. “Secret Diaries,” which was prepared by the Gazeta do Povo and PRC Television last year, detailed a massive embezzlement scheme of public funds in Parana, Brazil’s government.

James Alberti, Katia Brembatti, Karlos Kohlbach, and Gabriel Tabatcheik  in Kiev: The team’s database revealed massive corruption in the state Legislative Assembly of Parana, Brazil.

The Global Shining Light Award is awarded to the best investigative journalism in a developing country or a country in transition, which was reported under threat, duress or difficult conditions.
